The Australian Grand Prix ended up being a one horse race and that fast horse was Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull Racing RB7. None of the top qualifiers could get anywhere close to his race pace, the closest being Lewis Hamilton in the much improved McLaren.
Vetttels teammate Australian Mark Weber was surprisingly well off Vettel’s pace only managing a fifth place finish behind Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari F150.
To the surprise of almost everyone on the Grid Vitaly Petrov in the newly branded Lotus Renault GP car claimed his first ever Formula One Podium podium finishing in third place after a great start and a error free drive, Throughout the 2010 seson Petrov showed flashes of brilliance but his overall performance was erratic. It seems that he has stepped his game now that he has had to take over the #1 Driver spot after Robert Kubica’s terrible rallying accident and resulting injuries have prevented Kubica from returning to the team.

Force India must also be celebrating with both cars finishing in the points. With Paul Di Resta in the Force India VJM03 scoring his first ever Formula One World Championship points, finishing 10th behind his team mate Adrian Sutil. All this in Di Resta’s first Formula One Race. Di Resta was a Mercedes DTM Champion and Force India’s Test driver last season no doubt the team is very pleased that they promoted him and gave him the drive this season.
Next Race Malaysia – cant wait!
