British Grand Prix Broadcast Schedule

by F1Fan on June 30, 2010

The British Grand Prix returns to the Silverstone circuit for the first time since the circuit has had a major upgrade, increasing the track by almost half a mile (760m) to 3.67 miles in length.

The Grand Prix race weekend begins on Friday July 9th with the first open practice session, Qualifying will be held on Saturday 10th and the race itself will be the following Sunday 11th, July 2010.

Located just outside the village that gives the circuit its name the circuit spans both sides of the county border between Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, in the part of England known as the Home Counties . Silverstone first hosted the British Grand Prix in 1948 and has hosted the race every year since 1987.

For some unexplained reason Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosely the past head of the FIA wanted to move the British Grand Prix to Donnington Park, but when the Developement company involved with Donningtons circuit improvements collapsed Silverstone was able to negotiate a long term deal to host the British Grand Prix.

Always well attended the 2009 British Grand Prix http://www.f1racingfan.com/2009/06/22/record-attendance-at-british-grand-prix-will-bernie-rethink/ as the fans turned out for what at the time looked to be the last Grand Prix to be held at Silverstone, it will be interesting to see what the turnout will be this year.

For those Formula One Fanatics resident in the U.S. the British Grand Prix race itself will be broadcast by the FOX channel and its affiliates, just like the Canadian and European Grand Prix.

Speed Channel is still carrying both Live and repeat broadcasts of the Practice and Qualifying sessions over the race weekend and will broadcast the actual Grand Prix on the Tuesday following the race, if you can wait that long.

Here are the details of the European Grand Prix broadcast schedule for this coming race weekend.
