F1 World Championship Red Bull Throws It All Away

by F1Fan on June 1, 2010

The look on Mark Webber’s face after the Turkish Grand Prix pretty much said it all, after seeing his lead washed away by a stupid move from his teammate Sebastian Vettel. In an instant what could have been a record result for Webber and the Red Bull team end up being a result to forget.

In a race that should have seen Webber be the first car to take the checkered flag securing his lead in the F1 Drivers World Championship, his third place finish after coming together with his teammate Sebastian Vettel barely gained him enough points to stay in front of Jenson Button.

It was an even worse story In the Constructors championship what would and should have been a commanding lead of over 40 points if Red Bull had finished in the first and second positions evaporated after Webber and Vettel’s accident, allowing McLaren to claim the lead in the Constructors Championship by just one point.

Overall a particularly bad result for the Red Bull team and a result that could have been easily avoided if Vettel had not pushed so hard to overtake Webber on Lap 41.
