Monaco Grand Prix – Broadcast Schedule

A win at the Monaco Grand Prix, Round 6 of the Formula one season would for many F1 drivers be the pinnacle of their career.

It’s an incredibly tight, twisty and bumpy circuit with the armco barriers sitting right on the edge of the track making it a major challenge for the drivers and the teams with absolutely no room for error.

The following Red Bull Racing Lap simulation with Mark Webber gives a great insight to the challenges of the circuit:

Monaco is not only one of the world’s greatest motor sport events and biggest driving challenges on the F1 calendar it is also a logistics nightmare for the teams with an incredibly tight pit area. Lotus Racing Team Manager Graham Watson recently summed up the situation like this:

“The challenge really begins as soon as the Spanish Grand Prix finishes as we have to pack up everything there and then get it all over to Monaco in time to try and finish setting up by Tuesday night. We have some very experienced truckies and mechanics in the team, who know their way around the confines of the Monaco paddock, and that definitely helps us make sure we can meet all our engineering deadlines, and have the cars ready to go out on track on Thursday morning. We may be one of the new teams, and we definitely don’t have as much equipment yet as some of the more established names, but we’re still able to pack in everything we need to cope with any eventuality over the weekend, including a composite and fabrication workshop on site, which hopefully won’t be needed, but with the nature of Monaco in mind, are necessities here.”

Monaco race weekends are unusual in that Fridays are a quiet day so Practice starts on Tomorrow (Thursday) with no running on Friday and then returning to the normal schedule of Qualifying on Saturday with the Grand Prix on Sunday. So make sure that your DVR’s are set accordingly. For those of you in the U.S. here are the SpeedTV broadcast times for the Monaco Grand Prix Race Weekend
