Chinese Grand Prix – Race Schedule

by F1Fan on April 14, 2010

The Chinese Grand Prix is just 4 days away and the teams are already arriving at the Shanghai International circuit getting prepared for start of the race weekend.

The Chinese Grand Prix has had a different winner for each of the six events held since it first debuted in 2004. Only Kimi Raikkonen who won for Ferrari in 2007 will be missing from this years grid. With the other five drivers: Alonso; Barrichello; Hamilton; Schumacher; and Vettel all competing to make history, by becoming the first two time winner. Given Sebastian Vettel’s recent form so far and the pace of the Red Bull RB6 chassis this season he must be the odds on favorite going into this race weekend.

Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) is truly a modern masterpiece and another Herman Tilke design that incorporates elements of the Chinese culture both on track and in the surrounding support buildings and grandstands. With a capacity for 200,000 spectators with 29,000 of them in the main straight grandstand alone it is a large ultra modern facility with a challenging track layout. As ably described by Mark Webber taking us through the circuit in the Red Bull simulator:

Last year was the first time that the Chinese Grand Prix was held at the beginning of the season, the move bringing with it lower temperatures and possible rain, so it will be a completely different race climatically from the hot humid conditions of the MAlaysian Grand prix a couple of weeks ago and tire management will be again key to a good race.

Don”t forget that China is a day ahead so practice will be braodcast on thursday night, here are the live and repeat broadcast times for the SpeedTV channel on DirecTV.
