USF1 – SpeedTV Video Update

by F1Fan on February 22, 2010

SpeedTv’s Bob Varsha gives his take on what is happening at USF1.

Varsha, a good friend of Peter Windsor and one of the few outsiders that have actually seen the inside of the USF1 facility should have good access to Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson but even he couldn’t get a response from the team. In fact to my mind the information he has unearthed casts more uncertainty on USF1’s future than suggested in the recent New York Times Article.

In particular Varsha’s discussion Nick Craw of the FIA contradicts the Information that the team has requested the FIA to be able to miss the first 3 or 4 races, rather it appears that USF1 has just requested a clarification of the rules so any final decision is most likely some way off.

Could it be that behind the scenes USF1 is part of the deal to save campos Meta in some way, perhaps a merge between the teams with Chad Hurley’s continuing investment in the revised venture. Colin Kolles the new Team Principal of Campos Meta 1 has hinted at some possible US Investment, so who knows.

The original team premise, a US based Team with US drivers and a car designed and Manufactured in the USA from my point of view is the preferred solution, but if that can’t happen what would be your Fall back position?
