Paffett Pffastestt on Day 2 of Jerez F1 Test

by F1Fan on December 2, 2009

Driving the McLaren MP4-24 Gary Paffett pretty much blew away the competition during the second day of testing at Jerez, being the only driver to get under the 1 min 19 sec barrier.

Setting the fastest time by far, Paffett posted a time almost half a second faster than Nico Hulkenberg who was second fastest today and was o.45 sec faster than the time that Andy Soucek set yesterday and who currently still holds the second fastest time so far.

Even though Paffett has been testing with McLaren one has to wonder if Paffett could have a future in F1 with Mercedes. Already a successful DTM Champion for Mercedes and no doubt well respected by Norbert Haug, the guy ultimately in charge of the new Mercedes/Brawn Formula one team, it looks like his stars maybe coming into alignment.

I for one would like to see another Brit driving for Ross Brawn, my guess is, if Shuey ultimately decides against a return to F1 we could see Paffett in a Mercedes racing suit.
