Young USA F1 Hopefuls Test at Jerez

by F1Fan on December 1, 2009

Today marks the first day of testing for a bunch of young motor-sports drivers who had earned the chance of a once in a lifetime F1 test at the Jerez circuit located in the Adalusia region of Spain.

Among them were two young drivers from the U.S., Alexander Rossi and J.R. Hilderbrand. Rossi driving the BMW Sauber proved fastest of the two today ending up 7th fastest on the day with J.R. Hilderbrand driving a Force India coming in a few places lower in 10th, although J.R. completed some 40 fewer laps than Rossi, so the relative times may be somewhat askew.

Heading up the time charts on Day 1 was F2 Champion, Spaniard Andy Soucek, closely followed by Scot, Paul Di Resta and then Gary Paffett the British Mercedes Driver and DTM 2009 champion, which is pretty impressive as Paffett does not have much open wheel experience spending most of his time in recent years in the DTM European Sedan racing series.
