The Big Question: Can Brawn Return To Winning Form For The German Grand Prix

by F1Fan on July 1, 2009

Red Bull Racing definitely increased the performance of their car for the Silverstone Grand Prix and were the class of the field finishing on the first two steps of the podium.

The big question is can Brawn do anything about it, apparently the problem Brawn had at Silverstone was not getting enough heat in the tires to make them work well. For the German Grand Prix Brawn GP will be using some new parts for the car that will hopefully fix this problem and give the BGP-001 the extra speed needed to reclaim their winning form.

Whatever happens its going to be an interesting second half of the season, Ferrari made some improvements at Silverstone with Masa having his best finish of the season, Toyota has also been fast for most of the season with both Drivers putting in good times and Jarno Trulli doing particularly well in qualifying, even Williams are in the mix showing great speed during qualifying but just not having a good race pace for the actual race.

Jenson Button must be concerned, while he is currently leading the Drivers Championship and has a convincing lead at the moment, it is not insurmountable. His team mate Rubens Barrichello, Red Bull Racings Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are all within striking distance.

The German Grand Prix could prove to be the pivotal race in the 2009 season for Button, I for one hope that the new modifications to the car work, it will be great to have a close fought Championship for the rest of the season.

Only just over 8 days to go until friday practice, it will be interesting to see how the pace of the BGP-001 matches up to the competition.
