F1’s Big Guns Meet Tomorrow at FIA World Motorsport Council

by F1Fan on June 23, 2009

Oh! how I would love to be a fly on the wall of tomorrows FIA’s World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) meeting in Paris.

In attendance will be Max Mosely head of the FIA, Bernie Ecclestone Formula One’s commercial rights holder and representing FOTA Luca di Montezemelo FOTA’s chairman and President of Ferrari.

How the WMSC will deal with the deadlocked situation between Mosely and FOTA is anybody’s guess, Mosely is already lobbying to stay on for a new term as head of the FIA even though he originally committed to standing down in October at the end of his current term.

Many people feel that for the good of Formula One the WMSC should act now and remove Mosley, I for one would welcome such an outcome.

Bernie Ecclestone seems to be sitting on the fence hoping for a solution, but if it came down to having Mosely as head of the FIA and a split in F1, or revised 2010 regulations per FOTA’s request and a united F1 Championship series my guess is that the financial impact of having a F1 championship without the major Formula One Teams would make Bernie’s decision very easy.

So, Lets see what tomorrow will bring.
